Society speaker

RUMFORD – The Rumford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, in the Conference Room of the Municipal Building on Congress Street.

Dr. Bill Hersey will talk on photography and show some of the cameras he has collected. He started with a Kodak Brownie when he was in high school and learned darkroom techniques there. Photography money helped to put him through college, and he will show some of the cameras he used then.

The society will also hear about the variety show scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18 and 19, in the Municipal Auditorium. It is sponsored by the Historical Society and the proceeds will go to the Jane deFrees Scholarship Fund.

Alzheimer’s group

RUMFORD – March sessions of the Smoking Cessation program, sponsored by River Valley Healthy Communities, are announced.

Kilroy’ cast

RUMFORD – The cast for this year’s spring musical, “Kilroy Was Here,” has been chosen at Mountain Valley High School, and the show has gone into rehearsal for the March 30 opening. Four performances will be staged, with 7 p.m. curtains on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 30, 31 and April 1, plus a 2 p.m. matinee on April 1.

“Kilroy Was Here” is a musical comedy set in 1942 in a USO club outside the Naval Shipyard in Brooklyn, N.Y. It is under the direction of Bob and Cindy Bohren.

Cast member include Kayla Anastasio, Brian Arsenault, Kayla Bartlett, Stephanie Beadle, Denise Belanger, Alina Bezkorovanya, Tori Bohren, Aaron Cayer, Dylan Cayer, Cassie Clement, Alyssa Fournier, TJ Fournier, Angella Gallant, Mindi Hill, Matt Hutchins, Leah Mawhinney, Ian Miller, Chad Moeun, Kati Nile, Phoebe Pike, Jessica Profit, Marie Russell, Eric Volkernick and Carl Zurhorst.

Residents sought

RUMFORD – Residents are being sought for a Community Forum to be held in April. The focus will be community assets. The first meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition office, 94 River St. Light refreshments will be provided.
