Topsham -Violette R. Martin, 88., formerly of Stone Street, Brunswick, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Amenity Manor.
She was born in Brunswick on Sept. 27, 1917, a daughter of Edward and Alice Trembley Lamarre. She attended St. John’s School.
She worked at the Verney Mill shoe shops in Lewiston and Auburn; as a nurse’s aide at Regional Hospital and Brunswick Manor; and as a private housekeeper.
She enjoyed sewing and embroidering, cooking and baking pies, and spending time with children.
She is survived by a son, Ron and his wife, Luna Martin, of Bryant Pond; two grandchildren, Richard and his wife, Karen Bennett, of Oxford and Cheryl and her husband, Charles Martin, of New Richmond, Wis.; three brothers, Richard and his wife, Constance Lamarre, of Brunswick, Ronald Lamarre of Bangor, and Romain and his wife, Lorraine Lamarre, of Topsham; four sisters, Doris and her husband, Henry Vanasse, of Woonsocket, R.I., Nancy and her husband, Dominic D’Alessio, of Brunswick, Fleurette and her husband, Gerry Brillant, of Brunswick, and Jacqueline Bisson of Brunswick; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Roger Lamarre; and a sister, Bernadette Nolan.
