PORTLAND – The Maine Public Relations Council is offering a professional development program on public relations for nonprofit staff.

John Rhodes, a public relations and fundraising professional, will provide tips to help people use their time and resources effectively to make a cause stand out. Rhodes, president of J.D. Rhodes Associates Inc., based in Alabama, will discuss the importance of communicating and listening to an organization’s public, working closely with a nonprofit’s development office, building relationships and keeping volunteers informed and engaged.

The seminar will be Friday, Feb. 17, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Freeport. Registration begins at 8 a.m.; the program will be 8:30 to 10 a.m.

The cost is $20 Maine Public Relations Council members and $35 nonmembers. That includes a continental breakfast.
