Maine poets group to meet in Augusta
LEWISTON – The Maine Poets Society recently produced an anthology of work by its members. It is available at book stores throughout the state.
The society will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Governor’s Restaurant, 1185 Lisbon St. Guests are welcome. Participants will pay a small registration fee and are asked to pay for their noon meals.

Volunteer conference
BATH – LaVerne Campbell, national director of volunteer services for Volunteers of America in Washington, D.C., will be the keynote speaker for the fourth annual conference for coastal Maine volunteer administrators on Thursday, March 2.
Presented by the Volunteer Administrators of Midcoast Maine, the conference will be held at the Maine Maritime Museum’s Long Reach Hall, 243 Washington St., from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Conference cost is $40 a person and includes all materials, sessions and meals. Registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 24. Checks, payable to VAMM, may be mailed to Millie Stewart, VAMM treasurer, MCH, 123 Medical Center Dr., Brunswick 04011.

Saved Rottweilers to have their day
AUGUSTA – Rottweiler Rescue Day, sponsored by North East Rottweiler Rescue, will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Pet Co, Turnpike Mall.
There will be volunteers and dogs from the rescue group, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of the Rottweiler breed. It also provides information on training and health and nutrition for all dog lovers.
