FAIRFIELD – Brittney French paved the way with 19 points, leading No. 11 Edward Little to a 48-29 upset win over No. 6 Lawrence in the teams’ Eastern Class A preliminary basketball match-up Tuesday evening.
The game was close going into the fourth quarter, but the Eddies blew open the contest, outscoring the Bulldogs 24-8 to capture the win. French tallied 12 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter, while the team went 11-of-13 from the free-throw line.
Allie Forgues added 13 points for the Eddies.
Buckfield 52, Isleboro 25
BUCKFIELD – Shayna Shackford led all players with 12 points and 13 rebounds as Buckfield rolled past Isleboro 52-25 in the teams’ Western Class D basketball game Tuesday.
The Bucks dominated the contest in the third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 16-3, giving them the advantage they needed to win. Desiree Brackett tallied 11 points. Lindsey Henderson added five points and seven steals for the Bucks.
The Isleboro effort was paced by Caitlyn Anderson with 11 points.
St. Dom’s 49, Sacopee Valley 44
AUBURN – Abby Gilbert dropped in 20 points and teammate Katie Lyon added eight as St. Dom’s advanced with a 49-44 victory over Sacopee Valley Tuesday night. With the victory, the Saints will face Livermore Falls in a Western Class C quarterfinal game Monday afternoon.
Sacopee Valley was paced by Michelle Libby with 16 points.
Hockey
Leavitt 4, Win-Dale 3
HALLOWELL – Steven Rouillard had a hat-trick, leading Leavitt to a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Win-Dale on Tuesday.
The Hornets notched four unanswered goals in the second period after trailing 3-0.
The first two of Rouillards’ goals and a goal by Ben Boulay were all scored within 34 seconds, and Rouillards’ last goal came short-handed off a pass by Evan Longchamps.
