LEWISTON – Marie Blanche Hudon, 101, a lifelong resident of Lisbon, died early Sunday, Feb. 19 at the St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion. She led a full life in Lisbon.

She was born in Lisbon on July 4, 1904. Starting at an early age, she worked closely with her father at his grocery store, and assisted him in other business ventures. She was valedictorian of her Lisbon High School Class in 1922, and took additional business training.

She was a founder of the Lisbon Library, and was active in the Business and Professional Women’s Club. Later in life, she helped manage food services in the Lisbon schools, and she became widely known for her professionally decorated cakes.

She was a warm and caring person who was always ready to welcome family, friends and neighbors, and she had a special love for children. In her later years, she greatly enjoyed the company of family members who returned to Lisbon to live, or visited regularly. Despite some health problems, she remained in stubbornly good health and spirits, and her longevity was no surprise to her.

She leaves a sister, Corinne Wrenn of Lisbon; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Eugene, Ernest and Alfred; her three sisters, Beatrice, Helen and Bertha; and by her parents, Lewis D. and Josephine B. Hudon.
