ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – Freeman A. Ellingwood, 87, passed away, March 4, at his home.

He was born Sept. 23, 1918, in Andover, the son of Hollis and Grace Ellingwood. He was one of 12 children and graduated from Rangeley High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific area with the 43rd Division. He retired from Boise Cascade papermill in Rumford after 32 years of service. He moved to Englewood, Fla. in 1985 with his wife.

While in Englewood he worked part time for Englewood Florist and Fabulous Flowers for about 10 years. He also worked part time for Englewood Water District for several years. He was a member and past president of New England Club in Englewood, member of the Mayflower Society, Elizabeth Tilly Colony, the United Methodist Mens Club, Englewood, and he was a member of the Sunbelt Charter of the 43rd Division.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara C. Ellingwood; one brother, Walter of Livermore Falls; two sons, John and wife, Gloria, of Waterboro, and Thomas and wife, Linda, of Rumford; one daughter, Constance Roberts of Largo, Fla.; four grandchildren, John Jr. and wife, Sandy, of Waterboro, Wendy and husband, Adam, of Waterboro, Tricia and husband, Jim, of Milton, Vt., and Brie of Englewood; five great-grandchildren, Shawn, Joseph, Cory, Benjamin and Morgan.
