OXFORD – The Mollyockett Chorus, beginning March 14, will offer a weekly series of four free vocal lessons to introduce women age 18 and up to the art of barbershop singing. During the four-week series, vocal production, breathing technique and interpretation of songs in a wide variety of musical styles will be taught. There will be a $10 fee for materials that will be used during the instruction.
Lessons will be offered at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Skeetfield Road, just off Route 26, where the chorus meets from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Tuesday.
The Mollyocketts perform shows and have joined with the Hillsmen and Downeasters men’s barbershop choruses in special performances. They are available to sing for civic and elderly groups at assisted living facilities.
Chorus members come from Bethel, Rumford, Livermore Falls, Auburn, Bridgton, Harrison, Bryant Pond, Norway, Oxford, Casco and Otisfield.
