1984: Graduates cum laude as English major from Middlebury College, then attends California Institute of the Arts acting program.

June 30, 1987: Meets Christopher Reeve while performing at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts.

April 11, 1992: Marries Reeve in South Williamstown, Mass.

1995: Becomes her husband’s primary supporter and caretaker following his paralysis from a horse-riding accident.

1996: Co-founder with her husband of the Christopher Reeve Foundation.

1999: Author of “Care Packages: Letters to Christopher Reeve from Strangers and Other Friends,” published by Random House.

Theatrical/Television/Singing Credits:

Her television credits include starring roles on “Law & Order,” “Oz,” and “All My Children,” and recurring roles on the CBS drama “Feds” and the HBO series “Oz.”

She also appeared in the HBO films “Above Suspicion” and “Someone Had to Be Benny.”

Her theater credits include the starring role in the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival’s rendition of “The Crucible,” and a leading role in the Broadway comedy “More to Love.” She also appeared off-Broadway and regionally at the Yale Repertory Theater, Joseph Papp’s Public Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival for seven seasons. She served on the boards of the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts and the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.

Her singing credits include the title song on the soundtrack of the HBO drama, “In the Gloaming,” directed by her husband.
