CHESTERVILLE – Voters will consider a change in setbacks in the town’s land-use ordinance, as well elect a selectman during Monday’s town meeting.

Voters have 53 articles to decide, including voting for a selectman between 1 and 6 p.m. Monday in the Town Office. The remainder of the articles will be taken up at 7 p.m.

Running unopposed for selectman is Craig Stickney, said Town Clerk Patricia Gordon on Monday.

The change in the ordinance would make it less restrictive to allow garages, carports, barns, decks, porches additions, sheds and similar structures to be built at least 50 feet from the centerline of a public or private road and at least 15 feet from a side or rear property line.

The setback is currently 75 feet from the centerline of road, Gordon said.

Selectmen are proposing a $352,295 budget, up $23,171 from the current budget, she said.

There have been fuel increases and there is a $15,000 payment for a loader the town bought in September, she said.
