AUBURN – Nellie E. Demjanovich, 91, of 12 Avery St., Lisbon Falls, died Saturday evening, March 11, at her daughter’s home at 6 Second St., with her family by her side.

Nellie was born in Bath on July 9, 1914, the daughter of Howard and Vera Ratcliffe King. She graduated from Morse High School in 1932 and graduated from Gorham Teachers College in 1934.

Nellie married David A. Demjanovich, who died Oct. 11, 1986. Nellie taught second and third grade at Marion T. Morse Elementary School for 37 years prior to her retirement in 1973. She was a member of Holy Family Church, the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary in Lisbon Falls, the Maine Education Association, the National Teachers Association and the AARP. Nellie enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and gardening. She enjoyed working with animals and children.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Hermina and Peter Hart of Auburn; sister, Emma Perry of Lewiston; brother, Ernest King of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Robert King, Edwin King, Howard King and Albert King; and three sisters, Ruth Young, Claire St. Pierre and Christine King.

The Hart family would like to thank the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice caregivers: Dr. Roger Austin, Trudy Newton, R.N., and Rick Varney, R.N., Mary Heath, social worker, and Mary Claxton, chaplain, for all their help and caring during this trying time. We would also like to thank Acadia Home Health for Nellie’s two loving caregivers, Lisa Vining, and Aba Abu. We also would like to thank Elder Independence of Maine and the Gould Foundation for their help in Nellie’s care. Finally, we would like to thank Dr. Daniel Chase from Midcoast Medical Group, Topsham, for all his efforts in providing Nellie with the best of care, and Leola Bouthot of Lewiston, who was Nellie’s private caretaker.
