Senior College

LEWISTON – Senior College course registrations for the spring semester beginning April 3 are being accepted.

The following subjects are offered: Maine in the Civil War; Middle East Perspectives; Life and Work of Carl Jung; Scrapbooking; American Jazz; American Opera and Musical Theater; Computer Internet; New Maine Fiction; Lewiston Public Theatre: Behind the Scenes; and Travel and Ethnic Food.

The fee for each course is $25, and courses are scheduled for four or eight weeks for the period from April 3 to May 26. Some courses will be limited as to class size, so interested persons should register promptly. No previous college attendance is required. OES initiation

LISBON FALLS – Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold a special meeting for the purpose of initiation at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at the Lisbon Falls Masonic Hall. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. All members of the order are invited.

Gun safety class

TURNER – SAD 52 Adult Education will present “Handgun Safety Personal Protection Plan” from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays for three weeks beginning April 3 at Leavitt Area High School.

The NRA program will be taught by Brian Moulton. It provides the basic knowledge to operate and use a handgun safely and teaches the fundamentals to shoot it skillfully. Persons must be age 18 to participate.

Women’s program

LEWISTON – A program for women who have experienced domestic abuse will be held in Lewiston, sponsored by the Kids First Center of Portland. The six-hour program, called “Kids First for Women,” will be held in April.

The class will examine the dynamics of separation and divorce, how to meet the needs of children during the stressful time, how domestic abuse impacts families and how it presents challenges to future parenting.

Participants will also learn how to effectively deal with physical, emotional and verbal abuse; safety planning; financial exploitation; and harassment.

Cost of the class is $45 a person. To receive specifics on the date, time and location, call the Kids First Center at 761-2709.
