LEWISTON – Bernice B. Melanson, 83, of 30 Pettingill St., Lewiston, died Sunday, March 19, at her residence of 40 years, after a short illness. She is now with the love of her life, Guy Melanson, her husband of 57 years, whom she married on Aug. 12, 1940. He died on Feb. 13, 1998.

She was born on May 20, 1922, in St. Francis, the daughter of Eugene and Melvina (Michaud) Jandreau. She loved having friends and family stop by her home and she also enjoyed playing cards.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Julienne Ouellette of St. Francis; her sisters-in-law, Laurette Melanson of Fort Kent and Rolande Melanson of Proctersville, Vt.; a son, John Charles Melanson and his wife, Priscilla, of Littleton, N.H.; a daughter, Marie Alvina Hale of Lisbon; four grandchildren, Sarah Hale, Ryan Hale, Stacy Newman and Josh Merrill; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Joel Newman; and many nieces and nephews.
