Pastor Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church is some kind of minister, preaching hatred and sending protesters to Oxford Hills to voice his agenda that has nothing whatsoever to do with funerals. It is the tens of thousands of dead soldiers and millions of veterans who have allowed him the freedom to choose to become a minister. It is quite clear from his interpretation of Christian love that he slept through the class about providing consolation and words of comfort to our fellow men in times of grief and heartbreak.

Having served in Korea and Vietnam, I won’t waste further words on his ilk except to suggest he do the dead and living soldiers and veterans, and their families, a huge favor: Take your flock of protesters and go find an uninhabited island far beneath Hades.
