TAMPA, Fla. – Brad Richards scored the lone goal in a shootout and John Grahame stopped three shots in the tiebreaker to lift the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-3 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday night.

Tampa Bay got goals from Martin St. Louis, Fredrik Modin and Ryan Craig. The Lightning are 4-0-1 over the past five games. The Rangers, who are tied atop the Atlantic Division with the Philadelphia Flyers, lost for the second straight night in a shootout.

New York’s Jaromir Jagr, the NHL leader in goals and points, had a goal and assist but was stopped on the Rangers’ first shootout attempt. He also failed to score Friday during the tiebreaker loss at Florida.

Jagr scored his 51st goal in the second period to move past Vic Hadfield (1971-72) into second place on the Rangers’ single-season, goal-scoring list. He is one short of tying Adam Graves’ team record set in 1993-94.

The right winger also has 107 points, tying Mark Messier for second during one season in franchise history. Jean Ratelle holds the record of 109 points in the 1971-72 season.

Petr Sykora and Petr Prucha had the other goals for New York, 3-5-4 over the last 12 games.

The Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the first period on power-play goals by Sykora and Prucha. St. Louis cut the deficit in half 34 seconds after Prucha’s goal.

After Jagr scored 30 seconds into the second, the Lightning pulled even at 3 on goals by Modin and Craig.

Rangers left wing Martin Rucinsky didn’t play because of a broken finger and is expected to miss a month. He was hurt in Friday’s loss at Florida.

New York had an apparent power-play goal wiped off in the second period when a video replay didn’t show the puck entering the net even though the shot appeared to slip past Grahame.

Lightning defenseman Dan Boyle left midway through the first with a lower body injury. His left leg hit the end boards in an awkward position after he got tangled with Rangers center Steve Rucchin while chasing the puck on an eventual icing call.

Notes: Jagr has five goals in three games and points in the eight straight (8 goals, 15 points). … New York D Darius Kasparaitis (groin) missed his third straight game. … Tampa Bay C Brad Richards had two assists, extending his point streak to five games (9 assists, 11 points) … Rangers C Michael Nylander has 10 assists, including two Saturday, and 14 points during a seven-game point streak. … The Rangers recalled LW Alexandre Giroux from Hartford of the AHL.
