LEWISTON – The Lewiston Middle School Ice Dawgs jayvee hockey team edged Saco 1-0 to capture the playoff championship in the Southern Maine Middle School Jayvee Hockey League.

Matt Therrien scored with just 15.6 seconds left to provide the thrilling victory.

About a minute earlier, Lewiston Goalie Richie Belanger made the save of the game to keep Saco off the scoreboard. At that time, Coach Paul Beland called a timeout. A power line was put on the ice with Cam Fillion at center, Cody Rodrigue on one wing and Matt Therrien moving from defense up to left wing. Frankie Welch and Albie Therrien were placed on defense. Fillion won the draw in the Lewiston end and passed to Rodrigue who in turn moved the puck to a streaking Matt Therrien. He fired a shot that beat the Saco goalie on the glove side.
