LEWISTON – An expert on Mideast politics and the politics of Islam will visit Bates College at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Edmund S. Muskie Archives, 70 Campus Ave.
Vali Nasr will speak on “Contemporary Issues in the Middle East and Challenges for U.S. Policy.” The talk is open to the public at no cost.
A professor and associated chair of research at the Department of National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School, and adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, Nasr is the author of several books on politics and Islam. He has also written for The New York Times, Time and The Washington Post, and has been a guest on CNN, the BBC, The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, 60 Minutes and Frontline.
