WILTON – Police are tracking down a car believed to have been driven through the grass at Kinneowatha Park sometime this weekend.

Police Chief Wayne Gallant said the car’s driver “couldn’t get in (the park) all the way because there was a gate,” but nevertheless “the vehicle had gone across and caused quite a bit of damage to the lawn.”

Police believe the driver purposefully damaged the grass and also may have stolen two metals rails used for skateboarders, Gallant said Tuesday.

In total, he said, the driver caused between $500 and $1,000 of damage, and may be charged with criminal mischief when caught.
