WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Clara Brickel died Thursday, March 30, at her home.

She was born in Russia, the daughter of Bella and Jacob Prell. She and her sister Dorothy and her mother came to America from Russia via Cuba in the 1920s. She was educated in Boston and attended Burdett College.

On Feb. 10, 1935, she married Jack Brickel in Boston, Mass. They moved to Maine in 1939 and started a newspaper distribution business. She worked in Day’s Jewelry Store and was a manager of CVS in Auburn. She moved to Florida in September 1974, and worked on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, for Lilly Runin, The Elaine Shops and other exclusive shops, retiring at the age of 80. She loved playing duplicate bridge, visiting Maine and her children. She lived life to the fullest.

She is survived by two sons, Stanley and Robert; a daughter-in-law, who she lovingly called her daughter, Faye; two grandchildren, John Brickel and Joey Brickel and his companion, Jen Young; two great-grandchildren, Jamie and Preston Brickel; three nieces, Shirley Cohen of Boca Raton, Fla., Linda Gershman and husband, George, of Newton, Mass.; nephew, Jerry Prell of Guilford, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Prell of Boca Raton, Fla.

She was predecesed by her sister, Dorothy Nussinow; and a loving brother, Sumner Prell.

The family expresses gratitude to Dr. Michael Chidester and his staff; The Hospice of Palm Beach County and special thanks to her angels, Ramona Woodhouse, R.N., Violet Brooks and Deanna Talmul; Dr. Barry Lerner and all of the wonderful people on the Silver Team, Janet Melville and her many friends at Golden Lake Village.
