WATERVILLE – The second annual Knock on Wood Guitarfest, featuring innovative and accomplished guitar players in performance and workshop settings, will be held Friday and Saturday, April 7-8.

The event will kick off with varied workshops Friday night and all day Saturday at Colby’s Given Auditorium, culminating with a 7:30 p.m. concert Saturday night at the Waterville Opera House.

Featured performers include Muriel Anderson, the first woman to win the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship, returning in her role as Knock On Wood’s emcee; Anderson; Sharon Wayne, classical guitarist and educator; the Cuban-American duo of Raul Freyre and Gary Wittner, aka Dos Canosos; and the Frank and Joe Show of New York, playing music from Cole Porter to Jimi Hendrix.

April 7:

6 p.m: Rick Bishop (bass)

6 p.m: Mike Theberge (shredding)

7:30 p.m: Dos Canosos (latin roots)

April 8:

11 a.m: Sharon Wayne (classical)

12:45 p.m: Muriel Anderson (fingerstyle)

2:15 p.m: John Baboian (jazz/improvisation)

3:30 p.m: Frank Vignola (all styles)
