AUGUSTA – The Lewiston High School cheerleading team was recognized by the Legislature on March 20 for winning the state championship this year.
Sen. Peggy Rotundo sponsored the sentiment honoring their achievement. It was cosponsored by Reps. Sonya Sampson, Elaine Makas, Lillian LaFontaine O’Brien, William Walcott and Margaret Craven.
The team appeared at the State House at the invitation of Rotundo.
“It was a real pleasure having the cheerleading team here,” said Rotundo. “This is the third time in the last four years they have won the state championship. They have shown great athleticism, hard work, team work and determination to once again receive this honor.”
The team won the title in February.
