Henderson

FARMINGTON – Holy Week and Easter services at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street will begin with Palm Sunday, April 9. Sunday school for all ages will be held at 9 a.m. followed by worship at 10:30 with palms and songs.

A Maundy Thursday special communion and Tenebrae service will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13. All are welcome. Tenebrae means the lengthening of the shadows. It is a quiet, reflective service.

An ecumenical Good Friday service will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, April 14. The liturgy is based on a “Stations of the Cross” service from the Christian community at Iona. Readings and prayer will accompany the images of each station along the way. Dan Woodward will be the soloist.

All are invited to an Easter breakfast at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 16. There will be a hunt for Easter eggs containing clues and questions about the Easter message. There will be no Sunday school classes on Easter Sunday.

Following the breakfast, the public is welcome to join the congregation at 10:30 a.m. for a Celebration of the Resurrection in worship, flowers and song. The Rev. Susan Crane’s message will be “I Love to Tell the Story.”

St. Luke’s

FARMINGTON – St. Luke’s Church has announced the Holy Week schedule.

Palm Sunday, April 9: Services at 8 and 10 a.m. The 10 a.m. service will feature a procession with palm branches and congregational reading of Jesus’ passion as a narrative.

Maundy Thursday, April 13: Service at 7 p.m. The service incorporates a foot washing. After communion the altar is stripped and the church darkened.

Good Friday, April 14: Ecumenical services at Henderson Church at noon; and in Wilton, at Dryden Baptist Church at 7 p.m.

Saturday, April 15: Service at 8 p.m., the “Great Vigil of Easter.”

Easter Sunday, April 16: Easter sunrise ecumenical service on Voter Hill at 5:45 a.m.; Service of Holy Communion at 8 a.m.; service at 10 a.m., festival Eucharist with Easter music. An Easter egg hunt for young children will follow.

Fairbanks

FARMINGTON – Fairbanks Union Church has announced its Holy Week schedule.

Palm Sunday, April 9, at 9 a.m., worship, “Procession of Palms”; 5 to 6:30 p.m., Beta Class, “Contemporary Topics in the Bible”; the week’s topic, “Salvation,” led by Scott Planting; light supper served.

Maundy Thursday, April 13, at 7 p.m., service of communion and Tenebrae.

Good Friday, April 14, noon, Farmington Area Ecumenical worship service at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church.

Easter Sunday, April 16, at 5:50 a.m. sunrise service, Voter Hill; 9 a.m., worship service.

Kingfield

KINGFIELD – Good Friday and Easter morning sunrise services at the Kingfield United Methodist Church have been announced by the Rev. Marriott Churchill.

Churchill said the April 7 Good Friday service will be held at 7 p.m. and the Easter sunrise service will be held on the lawn at the church at 6 a.m. April 16. The annual sunrise celebration will be followed by a breakfast in the church. In the event of inclement weather, the sunrise service will be held in the church sanctuary. Sunday school and the Easter worship service will follow at 9:15 and 10:30 a.m. respectively.
