FARMINGTON – Faith J. H. Ellis, 72, of Rangeley, died Tuesday, April 4, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 26, 1933, in Virginia, a daughter of Marion Keating Johnson.

She attended school in Pennsylvania, where she studied nursing, receiving a B.S. degree and then went on to become an anesthetist.

She lived and worked in Pennsylvania until moving to Maine in the late 1950s, first to Bingham and later to Rangeley.

On Nov. 8, 1972, she married Brian Ellis in Rangeley.

She worked for the U.S. Forestry Service and was active in the Rangeley Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary, which she helped create and also served as secretary.

Faith was very knowledgeable about the woods and backcountry. She loved nature and all it had to offer. Another passion of Faith’s was horses. She owned several throughout her life and competed in various equestrian events, including the Devon Horse Show in Pennsylvania and once in Madison Square Garden in New York City.

She is survived by her husband, Brian of Rangeley; a daughter, Constance Copp and her husband, Dennis, of Rangeley; and a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Gonzales and her husband, Tom, of Ofallon, Ill., and their two children, Max and Emily.
