Variety show

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Emblem and Elks Clubs will take the stage for a variety show and dance at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22, at the Farmington Elks Lodge 2430. The show, “Together Again,” will have a dress rehearsal at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19. Doors for the shows will open at 6 p.m. and will feature DJ and MC Steve Bull. Church supper

NEW SHARON – A public baked bean and casserole supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the New Sharon United Methodist Church. The menu will include salads, chop suey, hot rolls, homemade pies and coffee. The cost is $6 for adults and $2 for children under 12. The proceeds will go toward current expenses. The supper is sponsored by the Women’s Society of the Church.

Gospel concert

WILTON – Diane Muise of Auburn will present a concert of gospel music at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at Calvary Hill Baptist Church. The public is invited and admission is free. For more information, call 645-2343.

DAR speakers

FARMINGTON – The Colonial Daughters Chapter, DAR, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at the Ferro House, University of Maine at Farmington campus. Laura Kwon, chairwoman of Daughters of American Revolution state junior membership, and her daughter, Crystal, state Children of the American Revolution recording secretary, will perform a skit.

Laura will tell the DAR members and guests what is happening with the Junior DAR in Maine. She will also speak about events taking place at the junior member breakfast April 28 to 30 a the Holiday Inn in Waterville.

Club bus trip

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Elks and Emblem Clubs are seeking interested individuals who would like to participate in a bus trip to the Hollywood Slots in Bangor. They must have 46 to 54 people to fill the bus, and the event is open to anyone.

The cost will be $25 a person, paid in advance. The date will be announced once they have determined there is enough interest. If there is, they may do the trip once a month.

Rummage sale

CHESTERVILLE – The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers are planning the annual fundraiser so they can continue community projects. The rummage/bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 6, at the Chesterville Town Office, Dutch Gap Road.

There will be a variety of items for sale, including clothing and children’s toys, and food available to buy.

Programs include sponsoring the local Girl Scout troop; providing meetings for self-help topics, including nutrition, Pilates, growing and cooking with herbs; making donations to the local food pantry, Franklin County Animal Shelter and others; and making crafts to be donated for the Chester Greenwood Festival of Trees and local nursing homes. All meetings are open to the public and are free.

Seniors meet

LIVERMORE FALLS – The Livermore Falls-Jay Senior Citizens met at Murray Hall on April 10 with 34 members present.

The group held an Easter meal of casseroles, salads and other food brought by members before the meeting.

Chairwoman Shirley Couture opened the meeting and Mary Groleau led in “The Old Rugged Cross.” The sick list included Norman Duguay, Zeke Richards and Joan Knapp.

A card was received from SeniorsPlus thanking the seniors for a donation to Meals on Wheels. The monthly SeniorsPlus meal will be served at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 24.

The 50/50 was won by Gloria Bickford. Easter baskets were won by Jo Slovak and Aurelien Couture. The meeting was adjourned and cards and games were played.
