Liberty Lodge

AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, May 15, for snacks and a social time. A regular meeting will be held at 7. The chaplain will lead a memorial service remembering departed members. Go To Church Sunday will be on May 21. All Rebekahs in the state are encouraged by the assembly president to attend church on that day.

Talent wanted

POLAND – Poland Regional High School Speech and Debate team will host a talent show and they are looking for talent. The show will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, in the school’s Dr. Robert Wall Theatre, 1457 Main St.

The outstanding talent of the evening will win $100 and there is the chance to win other prizes as well. To sign up an act, contact D’Arcy Robinson at 998-5400, ext. 218, with the following information: type of act, length and equipment needs, by Monday, May 15.

Admission is $5 a person. The show is a fundraiser for the team’s trip to national competition.

Seniors to meet

AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Hasty Community Center. Members should bring a bag lunch. A memorial service will be held in remembrance of those members who died in the past year. Super bingo will be played after lunch.

On May 3 members held an anniversary dinner at Martindale Country Club. Past presidents and spouses sat at the head table. Entertainment was provided by Ronald Niggle.

Society speaker

POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the Old Schoolhouse, Main Street. Michael Caouette will be present to speak on the Old Wayside Inn, which was located on Route 26 in Poland Spring near the Poland Spring Hotel.

Refreshments will be served after Caouette’s talk. The public is welcome.

Historical program

TURNER – Turner Museum and Historical Association will host a free presentation by Charles Plummer, impersonator, depicting the life of Turner’s Solon Chase, a prominent resident of Chase’s Mills in the 1870s. He was a candidate for the National Greenback Party and publisher of “Them Steers” newspaper.

The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at Leavitt Institute Building, 98 Matthews Way. Call 225-2629 Tuesday or Thursday afternoons for more information.

Skin screening

LEWISTON – Several Central Maine Medical Center health care providers and a Lewiston-based dermatologist will host a skin cancer screening clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, May 19.

Central Maine Hematology-Oncology Associates, the CMMC Health and Wellness Center, the CMMC Family Medicine Residency Program and dermatologist Dr. Peter H. Bouman will facilitate a free skin cancer screening clinic for people over age 30.
