Dear Sun Spots: What kind of paper is used for printing Bibles? It is very thin, and yet the printing on the opposite side is not visible unless a page is held up to the light. I would like to find something similar in 8½-by-11 to use in my computer printer. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: According to, bible paper is thin, lightweight, opaque printing paper for use when low bulk is important, as in bibles, prayer and hymn books, dictionaries, insurance rate books, and for multifold package inserts. Some grades are made from strong, new cotton and linen rags; others from flax. Greatest tonnage is made from chemical wood pulp alone or in combination with rag fibers. It is also called India or India Bible. In checking with the Abbey Permanent Paper Survey, bible paper is made by the company E.B. Eddy Paper, 604-527-2500, P.O. Box 2170, New Westminster, BC V3L 5A5, Canada.

Dear Sun Spots: Community Little Theatre is in need of volunteers to help in preparing its newsletter for distribution. This involves several hours for one morning a month at our theatre on Academy Street in Auburn. We will need assistance in folding the letters and attaching mailing labels. Because our theatre is a nonprofit organization, volunteers play an essential role in the success of our organization. If you are interested in helping with this task, please call 784-6782 or e-mail me at [email protected] Thank you. – Carolyn Robertson, volunteer coordinator, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: How would one be able to write to the actors in the movie “RV”? And who are the actors in “RV”?

I also have a second question: Would anyone know where one would be able to buy fruit trees from mail-order catalogs that send big and healthy fruit trees? – No Name, No Town.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, the movie “RV,” which was released in here in the U.S. this April, includes actors Robin Williams, Kristin Chenoweth, Jeff Daniels, Cheryl Hines, Josh Hutcherson, Joanna JoJo Levesque, Hunter Parrish, Chloe Sonnenfeld, Alex Ferris, and Will Arnett, to name a few. The director is Barry Sonnenfeld, and the screenplay is by Geoff Rodkey. You might consider trying to contact the actors through Sony Pictures, 10202 West Washington Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232, 310-244-4000. Sun Spots would recommend marking your correspondence to their attention and in the care of Sony.

Regarding your second question, Sun Spots would recommend you search for these via Google. And to get you started, try the following link at, which will give you a directory to start you in your search. Alternatively, you might consider contacting your local nursery for their recommendations as to which trees might better suit the growing conditions in your area.
