Celebration set

CANTON – Project NOW: Northern Oxford Wellness, a Healthy Maine Partnership and program of the River Valley Healthy Communities will host a celebration from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at the municipal building to honor and celebrate the work that has been done so far on the Canton trails.

Those who participated in other projects are invited to attend for light refreshments and the presentation of a $500 check to be used on upcoming projects.

Scout breakfast

RUMFORD – The Rumford Lodge of Elks 862 will sponsor a breakfast for all Scouts from 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday, June 4, at the lodge hall. Pancakes and sausage will be served. All Scouts are welcome. Saturday service

RUMFORD – On the Eve of the Feast of St. Barnabas, members and friends of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church will gather for a 4 p.m. service Saturday, June 10, with the Rt. Rev. Chilton Knudsen, bishop of Maine, for Holy Eucharist with reception of new members and celebration of new ministry.

The Rev. Merrill Bittner will be installed as priest-in-charge of St. Barnabas, succeeding the Rev. Canon Henry Male, who remains at St. Barnabas as associate.

The Rev. Alison Cheek, one of the first 11 women ordained to the Episcopal priesthood along with Bittner in 1974, will be the guest preacher. A supper will follow.

Grange meeting

RUMFORD – Rumford Grange 115 will meet Saturday, June 4, at the grange hall for lunch at noon followed by a meeting. Meetings will take place at the grange hall until further notice. For more information, call Vicki Ann Clark at 364-2129.
