NORWAY – Voters approved all the articles on the warrant at the annual town meeting with little debate Monday night.

This year’s municipal budget of about $2.1 million would have little effect on local taxes, Town Manager David Holt said in response to a question posed by a resident.

The meeting at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School was held in the auditorium, and the sound of rain pelted the roof as Tuesday evening’s storm intensified.

About 23 first responders left during discussion on Article 20 to respond to emergency fire calls caused by the raucous storm.

Few of the articles elicited discussion from the voters. Most of the debate centered on whether to give the Oxford Hills Growth Council, the area’s economic development organization, any money.

Voters finally voted to give the council $12,000, Town Manager David Holt said.
