LEWISTON – Tucker Beaudoin tossed a one-hit shutout and struck out nine batters over the abbreviated four-inning route Saturday, boosting Elliot Avenue Little League to a 10-0 triumph over Gardiner in the opening round of the District 5 11-and-12-year-old playoffs.

Connor Anthoine belted a three-run home run. Beaudoin helped his own cause with a single and a double, and Luke Cote also was a repeat hitter for Elliot.

Jake Palmer notched the lone hit for Gardiner. Jimmy Weymouth absorbed the pitching defeat.

Elliot advances to meet New Auburn at the Auburn Suburban Little League complex tonight at 5:30 p.m.

ASLL Softball

AUBURN – Kristen Whittaker registered 16 strikeouts to hoist Rotary to a 4-2 victory over Gee & Bee in the final game of the Auburn Suburban Little League Major Softball regular season.

Whittaker tossed a two-hitter and allowed only four walks.

Emily Grund and Ashlee Arnold slapped the hits for Gee & Bee. Grund struck out 12 in a solid effort on the hill, while Kristen and Amanda Turcotte each delivered an RBI.
