RANGELEY – The Sunday Nature Program at Orgonon, Dodge Pond Road, on Sunday, July 16, will be “Observe Nature from Your Bike Seat” with Bonnie Clark as guide.

Clark lived in Rangeley for 12 years and worked at Orgonon for eight years as the natural science coordinator, guide and caretaker, and she designed some of the walking/hiking trails on the property. Clark is an avid camper, hiker, gardener, outdoors person and certified art teacher.

She runs an organic vegetable farm in Farmington in addition to being an adviser at Mt. Abram High School. Clark is familiar with the area surrounding the Orgonon property and will be able to point out interesting nature subjects as participants ride on dirt roads. Wear appropriate clothing for biking and the weather.

Everyone will meet at the outdoor classroom a short distance down the trail marked “tomb” to the left of the parking lot. The program will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. It will be an easy ride. Those who need to rent a bike should contact Seasonal Cycles at 864-2100 by late Saturday afternoon as it is not open on Sunday.

Visitors are encouraged to visit the observatory building, which details the life and work of physician/scientist Wilhelm Reich, whose interest in the natural environment led to the introduction of the natural science program in 1989. The observatory is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday in July and August, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays in September. Adult admission fee is $6; children 12 and under, free.

All Sunday nature programs are free. Individual donors and a grant from the Wing Benjamin Trust fund the Natural Science Program
