Lodge barbecue

CANTON – Whitney Lodge 167, AF and AM, will host its annual chicken barbecue on Saturday, July 29, at the lodge hall, Route 108. Serving will be from noon until sold out. Cost of the meal is $5, and it includes corn on the cob, potato salad, roll and dessert to eat in or take out.

Tea party

MEXICO – Mexico Public Library will host an American Girl Tea Party for girls age 6 to 11 at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the Calvin Lyons Hall, located next door the library. Those attending will meet American Girl, Josefina, and travel back with her to 1824. Girls will work on a craft and play games from that era. Snacks will also be served. RSVPs are asked. Judges named

PERU – Worthley Pond Association has selected retired school teacher Shirley Dolloff, Selectman Rodney Jamison and retired Peru Fire Chief Bob Dolloff to serve as the judges for the annual Christmas in July celebration to be held at dusk Saturday, July 29.

Members Jim and Mary Pulsifer will provide the judges and Event Chairman Wayne Sylvester with a ride around the pond to make their award selection for camps, homes and boats decorated for Christmas.

Churches to meet

RUMFORD – The Rumford First Baptist Church will host the West Area Baptist Association on Monday, Aug. 7. A supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. and at 7:30, Marion Chase will speak on the prison ministry at Oxford County Jail. The public is invited the supper and program.

Club speakers

WILTON – The Christian Women’s Club will meet from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at the Boiler Room. Angela Fletcher from A Touch of Heaven will teach techniques for easing stress.
