Ambrose Flynn’s July 21 response to my July 15 letter illustrates the rocky road Chandler Woodcock supporters would lead us down.

Flynn is the kind of single-issue voter the Right Wing morality machine loves – so far right he denies having a left leg.

Unfortunately, conservatism not only ignores science and progress, it allows its benefactors (Republicans) to continue strangling the country. At the national level, missteps on war, tax cuts, stem cell research, gay rights, minimum wage, global warming, domestic surveillance and immigration have made life miserable for millions of Americans. Let’s not forget voter fraud in New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida since year 2000.

The right also produces an unprecedented number of big-mouths, bigots and bullies. Ann Coulter, Tom DeLay, Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly grace us on the national scene while, locally, Paul Madore attacks gays, Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello bends truth on minimum wage and Rep. Tom Shields blames Gov. Baldacci for all those Mexicans streaming over the New Hampshire border.

I tried engaging Rep. Shields on immigration in this space once, and his response was to critique my use of the English language.

So, you want Woodcock for governor? Go ahead. My mother used to tell me, “Be careful what you wish for. You might get it.”
