LEWISTON – Cyrille and Emma Baillargeon of Lewiston were honored at a anniversary dinner on May 10, on their actual wedding day, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant, in celebration of their 65th wedding anniversary.

The couple has been life-long residents of Lewiston and were married May 10, 1941, at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Lewiston.

Present for that event were their five children and their spouses, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Baillargeon, Mrs. Rachel Desgrosseilliers, Mr. and Mrs. Andy (Cecile) Langlois, Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Anita) Grenier and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Baillargeon. Some of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren were also present for the event.

A surprise event was also held in their honor by their children and relatives at the annual Baillargeon bash family reunion held on June 25 at Range Pond in Poland. A cake with their original wedding photo and a picture of them now was served to 100 guests attending. Guests came from the New England area and as far as Canada and Hawaii.

They are the grandparents of Mr. and Mrs. Mike (Ronda) Lecompte, Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Kim) Hachey, Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Doris) Webb, Mr. and Mrs. Jason (Julie) Laplante, Celeste Langlois of Manchester, N.H., Mr. and Mrs. Troy Baillargeon of Simsbury, Conn., Amanda Baillargeon, and Shawn Langlois. They are also the great-grandparents of Logan and Lauren Lecompte, Marc and Adam Hachey, Isaac and Liam Webb, Xavier Laplante and Eleanor Baillargeon.

Mr. Baillargeon has been retired 25 years as a weaver at the Bates Mill in Lewiston. Mrs. Baillargeon is a retired housewife and caregiver to many children in the area, for which she cared for many years. They are both members of Holy Family Parish. He is a member of the St. Joseph’s Association and she is a member of the Ladies of St. Anne at their church.
