FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) – The single winning ticket for the $208.6 million prize in the multistate Powerball was sold to someone in Fond du Lac, Wis., a city with a history of big jackpot winners, the Wisconsin Lottery said.

The ticket for the Saturday night drawing was bought at Ma and Pa Grocery Express, which has its own winning history. And the store is located on South Main Street, called the “Miracle Mile” because several stores there sold multimillion-dollar tickets in the 1990s.

The winner had not come forward as of Sunday morning, said Phil Moses, co-owner of Ma and Pa’s.

The winning numbers drawn Saturday were 2, 3, 9, 48, 50 and the Powerball was 23.

Ma and Pa’s will receive $100,000 for selling Saturday’s winning ticket, and it’s just the latest big payday for the grocery store. It sold a winning Megabucks ticket worth $6.5 million in 1994. It has also sold winning tickets for $500,000, and several for $250,000 and $100,000. Moses and a co-owner personally split one jackpot worth $138,000. “We’re just overwhelmed,” Moses’ sister, Gena Singleton, said Sunday. “Anytime we have a big winner we’re so happy because we love our customers.”

There was at least one winner in Saturday’s Tri-State Megabucks game, with an estimated jackpot of $2.125M. Wednesday’s jackpot is now estimated at $500,000.

She said customers often joke with her that they’ll give her $1 million if they win. “Some say they’ll take me to breakfast,” she said.

“I say ‘Where? In Hawaii?”‘

Powerball is played in 29 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Powerball outlets in Maine and 26 other states, along with the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands, sold $2.3 billion in tickets in fiscal 2003-04.
