KENNEBUNKPORT (AP) – President Bush is coming to Kennebunkport next weekend for the first time in nearly two years.

Bush is scheduled to arrive Thursday at Walker’s Point, where he’ll be spending the weekend with his parents at their summer retreat. Bush will be in town to attend a relative’s wedding, said Tom Frechette, spokesman for the president’s father.

While at Walker’s Point, Bush typically goes fishing and golfing.

But it has been a while since he came to Maine. Former President Clinton has visited Kennebunkport twice since the president’s last visit.

Bush visited Walker’s Point in August and September of 2004 during his re-election campaign.

The president had planned to come to Maine last fall, but Hurricane Katrina and the flooding in New Orleans got in the way, Frechette said.
