NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) – Jeremy West hit a two-run homer to highlight a seven-run uprising in the sixth inning Friday as the Portland Sea Dogs pounded the New Britain Rock Cats, 13-4, in the Eastern League.

The Sea Dogs (68-62) held a 2-1 lead when they sent 11 batters to the plate against starter Brian Duensing (1-2) and Justin Olson in the sixth.

Chris Durbin and Luis Jimenez began with back-to-back doubles, Brandon Moss reached on an error and West hit his 12th homer of the season.

West (3-for-5, 3 RBI) added an RBI single in the ninth.

Portland starter Andrew Dobies (1-1) was cruising along with a three-hitter through six innings when Doug Deeds slammed his third homer in three nights and 11th of the season with two runners on base.

Dusty Brown and Jacoby Ellsbury each had three safeties in Portland’s 17-hit attack.

Denard Span had two hits for the Rock Cats (59-71), who have dropped eight of 10 against the Sea Dogs at home this season.
