A very pleasant lawn party was held Saturday evening, at Taylor Brook Farm, Stevens Mills, the home of C. S. Hicks, master of Stevens’ Mills Grange. About, seventy-five patrons and guests gathered on the lawn where lanterns and hammocks were hung under the beautiful elms, making a very pretty sight.

The organ was brought out on the lawn and all gathered around to enjoy a good grange sing. The entertainers consisted of readings by Brother and Sister Roberts and Sister Yates, also graphophone selections by Elmer Stevens.

An all-day drizzle chilled the holidays spirits in the Twin Cities yesterday.

Off-and-on showers starting at 4 a.m. deposited 0.32 inches of rain. Saturday night, the Twin Cities got another .08 inches of precipitation.

The rain, which spoiled out-of-doors plans for may persons, kept yesterday’s temperatures from varying more than a few degrees. The mercury rose from 61 degrees at 2 a.m. to 69 degrees at 4 p.m. At 10 p.m. the temperature was 67 degrees.

The record temperatures for the date are 95 degrees in 1927 and 1942 and 44 degrees in 1938.

TURNER – Barn raising is not just a thing of the past. Though methods may differ today, when the need arises…up goes the barn. For Steve Briggs of Turner and Bruce Smith of Wayne the desire to own a dairy farm created the need to construct a barn.

Area residents may have noticed the construction process, which is difficult to miss, when driving past the large scale operation on Upper Street.

Under the supervision of Shelton White, E.T. Callahan Construction Co. has been hard at work since June raising the barn complex, one that upon completion will be christened Wauregan Farms, Inc.
