If the wait for season three of “Battlestar Galactica” seems just too frackin’ long, the Sci Fi Channel has your back.
The makers of the critically acclaimed series will help bridge the gap between the end of last season and the new season, which debuts Oct. 6 with an online miniseries called “Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance.” The first of 10 episodes went online Tuesday. Episodes will appear every Tuesday and Thursday for the next five weeks.
While viewing the webisodes won’t be essential to follow the season-three story, “The Resistance” does promise to bridge some gaps between the season two finale – which ended with Cylons descending on the newly colonized planet of New Caprica following President Gaius Baltar’s (Jim Callis) surrender – and the new episodes.
The webisodes focus on some supporting players in the “Galactica” universe. The first picks up about two months after the occupation, with Tigh (Michael Hogan) and Chief Tyrol (Aaron Douglas) working to organize a resistance force. They hope to recruit former Viper pilot Duck (Tucker Clellan) with the help of Duck’s old friend Jammer (Dominic Zaprogna).
The Cylons, meanwhile, are preaching peaceful co-existence while enforcing a strict curfew and jailing or eliminating anyone who steps out of line.
Sci Fi also has a recap special titled “The Story So Far” available on its Web site throughout September.
‘Lost’s Mr. Eko tagged on driving rap
Another cast member of “Lost” has run afoul of Hawaiian authorities for allegedly doing improper things while driving.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays the enigmatic Mr. Eko on the ABC series, was arrested over the weekend and charged with driving without a license and disobeying a police officer. He posted $500 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on the charges on Sept. 26.
The 39-year-old actor was pulled over about 2:25 a.m. Saturday in Waikiki, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin reports. Further details on the charges, including the reason officers stopped Akinnuoye-Agbaje, weren’t available.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje is the third member of the “Lost” cast to be arrested for traffic violations. Late last year both Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros were charged with DUI in separate incidents on the same night (neither is still with the show). Watros paid a fine and had her license suspended, while Rodriguez, who was on probation for another DUI in California, spent five days in jail and was also fined. Rodriguez also did a brief stint in jail upon her return for the mainland.
Several other cast members, among them Josh Holloway, Dominic Monaghan and Naveen Andrews, have been cited for speeding, the paper says, but were not arrested.
“Lost” begins its third season on ABC on Oct. 4.
