SABATTUS – The Sabattus Charter Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 12, to accept final suggestions and ideas for the new charter.

The commission also will explain the commission’s work and answer questions about the proposal itself.

The hearing will begin at about 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, following the weekly Board of Selectmen meeting.

The commission has been working on the new charter since last December. The preliminary draft was completed recently. and a legal opinion will be available soon, following a review. The draft is available on the Charter Commission’s web site at www. chartercommission.sabattus.net, or in print form in limited quantities at the Town Office.

After the public hearing, the final draft will be prepared and printed.

The vote to accept or reject the proposal will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, during the general election. All Sabattus residents are encouraged to attend and voice their concerns before the final draft is prepared.
