SCARBOROUGH (AP) – A Westbrook man whose car collided with a bus carrying the University of Southern Maine’s men’s cross-country team has died of injuries.
Michael Churchill, 20, who died Sunday at Maine Medical Center in Portland, was one of eight people injured in the crash that occurred at about 6 a.m. Saturday when he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Saco Street and Gorham Road.
The driver and five passengers on the bus were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said. Churchill and his passenger, Robert Swan, 18, of Westbrook, had to be pried from the wreckage. Swan’s condition was upgraded Sunday to fair.
The bus was on its way to a cross-country meet in Connecticut.
