HARTFORD, Conn. – Kim Alexander scored a pair of goals to lead Bates College to a 2-1 women’s soccer victory over winless Trinity.
Molly Wagner and Mary Bucci added assists for the Bobcats (3-1). Trinity’s goal came on a free kick from outside the box.
Mia Lidofsky made four saves for Bates.
Maine 2, Rhode Island 0
ORONO – Goals by Christine LaBelle and McKayla Bell kept Maine unbeaten with a 2-0 victory over Rhode Island.
Bell, an Oxford Hills graduate, scored her first of the year at 72:20 to seal the victory for Maine (6-0-1).
Husson 3, St. Joe’s 1
STANDISH – Shelby Morisette and Samantha Homer scored in the first half to lead Husson to a 3-1 victory over St. Joe’s.
Katie Jordan scored the lone goal for the Monks (2-2).
UMF 3, Lesley 1
FARMINGTON – Liv Irons and Melissa St. Amand scored goals 52 seconds apart late in the second half to erase a 1-0 deficit as the University of Maine at FarmingJackie Mrazik added an insurance goal in the 86th minute for the Beavers (2-2-0).
Jodi Fralick scored for Lesley, and goalkeeper Sarah Wedge stopped 17 of the 33 shots that she faced.
Field hockey
UMF 4, Wheelock 0
BOSTON, Mass. -Andrea Tyler had a goal and two assists as the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team won its second game of the weekend, 4-0 over Wheelock College.
Tyler assisted on Elyse Cole’s goal in the 10th minute to open the scoring, and scored on a feed from Alyssa St. Pierre. Erika Lukas chipped in with a goal and an assist, and Amanda Pullen also scored for the Beavers (2-0), who beat Lasell College 2-1 on Saturday to open the season.
Goalie Kaeleigh Barker faced no shots in the UMF net, as the Beavers outshot Wheelock 41-0 in the game.
Men’s soccer
Bates 1, Trinity 0
HARTFORD, Conn. – Greg Nelson broke a scoreless deadlock with 10 minutes to play to lift Bates to a 1-0 men’ soccer victory over Trinity.
Nelson and Trinity goalie Spencer Durland fought for a loose ball in front before Nelson gained control and finally directed the ball into the goal.
Aaron Schleicher made four saves for Bates (1-2) and was aided when a header by Michael Johnson struck the crossbar.
Husson 4, St. Joe’s 1
STANDISH – After a scoreless first half, Husson spread its attack and received goals from four players in a 4-1 victory over St. Joe’s.
Oscar Ody began a sputy of three goals to spark Husson (3-1-1).
UMF 2, Lesley 1
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Jordan Hickey assisted on the game-winning goal and added another score as the University of Maine at Farmington defeated Lesley 2-0.
Hickey set up Jeff Tatarczuk’s goal at 33:13, and scored on a feed from Brian London with 50 seconds remaining in the first half.
Brian Lemont turned aside eight shots for the shutout in goal for UMF (1-2-1).
