WEST PARIS – Selectmen Thursday authorized Town Manager Donald Woodbury and Road Foreman Bill Keach to obtain bid estimates regarding three road projects being considered for the summer of 2007.

The plan decided on at Thursday’s meeting is to obtain the estimates and submit them to the Budget Committee in January for consideration as warrant articles for the 2007 town meeting to be held in March.

The three projects include rebuilding and paving of the dirt portion of Stearns Hill Road, the same for the dirt section of Tewell Town Road and reclaiming, ditching and reclaiming a portion of Curtis Hill Road.

All three projects are part of an improvement plan town officials have been working on since late last spring.

Other projects being discussed include sections of Forbes, Morse Hill and Abbott Hill roads with studies of other areas needing work according to population and traffic volume.

The three projects chosen for presentation at next year’s town meeting are deemed top priority considering the population and traffic issues.

Selectmen also discussed the need to do roadside trimming this fall and authorized Woodbury to proceed in looking for cost comparisons between renting a boom bush hog or contracting the trimming project out.

Woodbury plans to have figures for the board at its next regular meeting on Sept. 28.
