I found the article “Municipal group, oil dealers clash” printed Sept. 13 very encouraging. It is nice to know the Maine Oil Dealers care about their 12,000 employees and support the Taxpayer Bill of Rights.

The MMA asked if oil dealers would pledge to keep their price increases for municipalities at, or below, the TABOR limits. The citizens of Maine have been asking the state and local government to keep their tax increases at, or below, the cost of living increases for years, but our state and local governments keep spending out of control.

The city of Auburn increased my property taxes by $1,000 this year, and promises to raise them again next year. I will need to cut back on heat for my home and other necessities in order to survive.

I am sure the MMA representatives will not have to go without necessities, but the MMA will continue to insist that they will need to cut services for the most vulnerable citizens in our state.

I hope that the citizens of Maine are ready to take control of their future and not be fooled by the scare tactics of the MMA or other government agencies.

We need to pay attention to the studies that show the benefits of TABOR.

I will be voting for it in November.
