TOPSHAM — Joanna Strong and Tiera Durgin scored a goal apiece to lift Oxford Hills to a 2-0 triumph over Mt. Ararat in field hockey action Tuesday.
Durgin scored in the first half for the Vikings (5-2) off a feed from Tia Pratt, while Strong’s goal was netted off a corner and a pass by Allison Reid.
Aleksys Pike needed to make only two saves to preserve the shutout. Molly Hayes made six saves for Mt. Ararat (1-6).
Mt. Blue 3, Messalonskee 2 (2OT)
FARMINGTON – Casey Kidd converted a pass from Alyson Webster with three minutes remaining in the second overtime to lift Mt. Blue to a 3-2 victory over Messalonskee in KVAC field hockey action Tuesday.
Michelle Oswalt netted a pair of goals for the Cougars (5-2) to complete the scoring. Ashley Lewia made 14 saves in net to record the win.
The Eagles (5-1-1) received goals from Abby Churchill and Lauren Hachey, while Beth Ridley turned aside 14 shots.
Soccer
Messalonskee 0, Mt. Blue 0 (2OT)
FARMINGTON – The Messalonskee Eagles and the Mt. Blue Cougars battled to a 0-0 tie through two overtime periods.
Eloise Douglas mader three saves in net for the Eagles (3-3-1), while Caitlin Scott turned aside seven shots in net for the Cougars (4-2-1). Mt. Blue outshot Messalonskee 12-7.
Edward Little 2, Leavitt 1
TURNER – Katelyn St. Hilaire charged toward the goal just as the ball took a freak hop and booted it into the net to lift Edward Little to a 2-1 victory over Leavitt in KVAC soccer action Tuesday.
St. Hilaire tallied both goals for the Red Eddies (4-3) in a strong performance. Brittney French made 11 saves to record the win.
Ashley Naylor put the Hornets (1-6) on the board early with an unassisted first-half goal. Kat Rothie handled netkeeping duties, turning aside six shots.
Mt. Abram 1, Monmouth 1 (2OT)
MONMOUTH – Cortney Barrett and Logahn Walker tallied goals for the respective squads Tuesday as Mt. Abram and Monmouth played to a 1-1 tie.
Barrett scored for the Mustangs (5-1-1), while Walker prevented the Roadrunners (4-0-3) from getting shut out. Noelle Lake and Kenni Norton combined for seven saves in net for Mt. Abram, while Bethany Neal turned aside 15 shots for Monmouth.
Lisbon 2, Mountain Valley 1
RUMFORD – The Lisbon girls’ soccer team rallied with back-to-back goals in the second half for a 2-1 victory over Mountain Valley.
The Falcons’ Tanya Martin scored the first goal of the game off a throw-in. Sierra Guay tied the game off a penalty kick, before Traelynn Hinckley scored the game-winning goal off a free kick from 20 yards out for the Greyhounds.
Buckfield 8, OOB 4
BUCKFIELD – Freshman Ashlee Hamann scored four goals Tuesday to lead Buckfield to a 8-4 rout over Old Orchard Beach in girls’ soccer action.
Alyssa Henderson chipped in for the Bucks (7-1-1) with two goals, while single tallies by Kasey Farrington and Danielle Labbe completed the scoring. Amy Reuter made 10 saves in net.
The Seagulls (2-6) received goals from Lexy Zahaves, Lacie Sanders, Ashley McDonald and Cody Koenigs. Rachel Hatch handled netkeeping duties, turning aside 20 shots fired in her direction.
St. Dom’s 4, Wells 4 (2OT)
WELLS – St. Dom’s had a 4-3 victory all but wrapped up Tuesday when Emily Quinton scored for Wells on a penalty kick with a minute left in regulation to send the teams home with a 4-4 tie.
Heidi DeHaan registered a hat trick for the Saints (3-1-2), while Kate Eslinger also tallied. Elyse Applegate made six saves in net for St. Dom’s.
Wells (1-3-1) received goals from Hope Beisswanger, Brooke Stevens, Lilly Colley and Quinton. Dee Digliotta handled netkeeping chores, turning away seven shots.
Mt. Ararat 4, Oxford Hills 1
TOPSHAM – Danielle Plourde netted a pair of goals to lead Mt. Ararat to a 4-1 victory over Oxford Hills in another KVAC girl’s soccer matchup. Kelsey Karkos and Gabby Bryant also tallied for the undefeated Eagles (7-0) to complete the scoring. Jessica Stahl made five saves in net to notch the win.
The Vikings’ (3-4) lone goal came from Terri Bunce in the second half. Sam Rivers handled netkeeping chores, turning aside eight shots.
Dirigo 4, Winthrop 0
WINTHROP – Melissa Harvey tallied back-to-back goals as Dirigo posted a 4-0 win over Winthrop in soccer action Tuesday afternoon.
Katie Hutchinson netted the first goal for the Cougars (6-0-1), before Harvey’s back-to-back shots. Molly Ray rounded out the scoring effort with an assist by Amy Gould.
Lynette Bryant faced only four shots to preserve the shutout, while Christine Dunn made 17 saves in the Ramblers (2-4-1) effort.
