EAST POLAND – Glen and Jane Torrey of East Poland recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at a party given by their children, Nancy Wright of Clinton, John Torrey of Milford, Cynthia Whiting of Windham and Glenna Bridges of Westwood, Mass.

The informal reception was held at Montello Heights in Lewiston, where family and friends enjoyed cake and ice cream and music, provided by Jon Whitmore.

Mrs. Torrey is the former Jane Waterhouse from Megquier Hill in West Poland, and Mr. Torrey was a resident of East Poland. They were married Aug. 24, 1941, at the All Souls Chapel in Poland Spring, with the Rev. Weston Cate performing the ceremony.

The couple has resided most of these years at the Torrey family farm in East Poland. Both have been very active in civic and community affairs. Their extended family includes 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Their future plans are to move to an assisted living apartment at Montello Heights. Family members will take over the farmstead property.
