DURHAM, N.H. (AP) – The University of New Hampshire has opened a new research center to fight a growing problem: sexual violence against college-age women.
The center’s hallmark project is called Bringing In the Bystander, which emphasizes that everyone has a role to play in ending violence against women on campus.
The Justice Department says women between the ages of 16 and 24 are victims of sexual assault at a rate that is four times higher than all women. The new center aims to change the statistics by researching sexual violence on campuses, evaluating prevention programs and policies at colleges, and offering education and training about prevention.
