BOSTON (AP) – The Boston Red Sox signed right-handers Mike Burns and Bryan Corey to one-year deals and assigned them outright to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Also Friday, righty Kevin Jarvis, catcher Ken Huckaby, and infielders Alejandro Machado and Carlos Pena elected free agency.
Burns was 0-0 with a 4.70 ERA in seven relief appearances after being acquired from Cincinnati on Aug. 29. He also appeared in 11 games with the Reds.
Corey, who was acquired from Texas on July 30, was 1-0 with a 4.57 ERA in 16 relief appearances with Boston.
