Readers Theatre kicks off season
LEWISTON – L/A Arts brought more than 300 third-graders from Lewiston public elementary schools to the Franco-American Heritage Center for a Readers Theatre performance by the Ever-Ready Readers theater troupe on Oct. 3.
Oral interpreters David La Graffe, Bill Duffy and Kym Dakin read from, and brought to life excerpts from the writings of Judy Blume, Shel Sylverstein, Lynn Plourde and Roald Dahl.
It was the kick-off event for a year-long program of Readers Theatre in which the young people, along with second-graders from the Auburn schools, will participate in small and large group workshops with La Graffe.
The program is an L/A Arts initiative made possible through Maine Arts Commission’s Partners of Arts in Learning grant, the school systems of Auburn and Lewiston and the Auburn-Lewiston Breakfast Rotary Club. Learn more about Readers Theatre at www.laarts.org.
