RUMFORD – A Mass of Christian burial for Gertrude Mercier was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, at St. Athanasius & St. John Catholic Church.

The Rev. James Martel was the celebrant. George Gionet was the altar server. Mark Belanger was the organist.

Special music selections were Old Rugged Cross, Ave Maria, and Jai’Re LaVoir Un Jour. Readings were done by Pam Rousseau and Doris Bourret, and Prayer of the Faithful was done by Sister Marie Mae.

The eulogy was given by Pam Rousseau. Pallbearers were Scott Turner, Ryan Young, Maurice Fraser, Theresa Fraser, James Carey, and Germaine Blier. Interment was in St. John Cemetery, and committal prayers were offered by the Rev. James Martel.

A reception followed in the parish hall. The services were under the care of S.G. Thibault Funeral Home, of 250 Penobscot St., in Rumford.
