A long time ago on beautiful Mount Desert Island, a young girl lurked about the docks and rocks of the salty, Bar Harbor shore. She was neither married nor penniless but was born into a rich family who always looked after her with love and care. She lived with her parents in a stately, majestic manor overlooking the blue ocean. The girl, however, hardly spent time inside. Instead, her life belonged on the seashore where she could be consumed by the breezes and sounds of the choppy Atlantic.

One afternoon, while the girl’s parents were out of town, she was walking about the sore in her long, red dress. It was very windy that day, as if a storm was quickly brewing, and the waters were very restless. The girl sat down on a rock with her long, brown hair blowing in the wind. She noticed the boats sailing in from the storm. it was definitely coming, for the dark, cloudy skies opened up with blinding, down-pouring showers. The girl stood up and started running up to her mansion. however, it was to late and she could not make it.

At every passing second, the storm worsened. The blizzard of rains distorted her visibility as the lightening lit up the darkness overhead. She continued to run on the wet, slick rocks when suddenly she slipped, falling forward on the rock slab. Yelling and s creaming hysterically for help, she tried to grab onto another rock. However, it was no use and the girl slid quickly towards the splashing waves.

Then, just as the girl’s feet were touching the ocean, she grabbed hold of a solid rock, which stopped her from sliding. Quickly, the young girl began pulling herself up but before she could fully stand, an enormous wave knocked her off her feet, dragging the girl’s body into the depths of the ocean.

Even though the young girl was silenced by that wave, her presence still wanders the shoreline and island. And though the ocean may seem beautiful and relaxing, there is a side to it that is very chilling; a side that silences all of its victims.
